0 of 8 links claimed · 0 evidenced

Compiled from public sources, unclaimed. What they mean

Each link
  1. 1. Real personNot stated

    Person · Not stated

Still open: Not applicable: captures come from automated satellites, with no human operator in the loop

  2. 2. Captured locallyNot stated

    Camera · Not stated

Still open: Not a signed capture, so none (STANDARD §3). What is stated: Each scene is an item type tied to one constellation (e.g. PSScene, SkySatCollect), and Planet's product specifications document each constellation's sensors (e.g. SkySat: three 5.5 MP CMOS detectors behind a 3.6 m focal-length telescope). No signed provenance links a delivered file to a specific satellite and sensor; you rely on Planet's metadata

Place · Claimed. Ortho products are corrected with attitude telemetry and ephemeris, then orthorectified with ground control points and 30-90 m DEMs; Planet's product specifications state positional accuracy under 10 m RMSE (PlanetScope ortho: 'Less than 10 m RMSE at 90th percentile'; SkySat ortho: under 10 m RMSE). Raw SkySat geolocation knowledge is 30-50 m

Still open: These are specifications, not per-scene measurements; accuracy varies by region and terrain, and no per-scene error is published

Needs both: the weaker one counts.

  3. 3. Genuine deviceNot stated

    App · Not stated

Still open: No public documentation of signing, provenance attestation, or a tamper-evident chain from satellite downlink to delivered file

  4. 4. Sealed captureNot stated

    Content · Not stated

Still open: No public method for detecting manipulated imagery. Cloud cover and quality_category are metadata, not authenticity checks. Orders API manifests carry per-file MD5 and SHA-256 digests, which show a file arrived intact but are unsigned and say nothing about what it shows

  5. 5. Known timestampReported

Time · Claimed. Scenes carry an 'acquired' timestamp that the Data API filters on (DateRangeFilter on 'acquired'); tasking captures are reported per order through /tasking/v2/captures/

Still open: How the acquisition time is derived and its accuracy are not documented on the pages read; timestamps are not signed

A time stated, not attested (RFC 3161, a log): Reported.

  6. 6. Tracked in transitNot stated

Custody record (optional field) · Not stated

  7. 7. Independently verifiedNot stated

    Cross-check · Not stated

Still open: Planet offers no per-capture independent cross-check. A NASA GSFC study (June 2022) measured PlanetScope offsets against WorldView imagery for a few sample sites (see attestations); it says nothing about any individual delivered scene or about SkySat

  8. 8. Delivered to youNot stated

Delivery receipt (optional field) · Not stated

Independent checks

  • NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (Tan, Lin, Wolfe): location (PlanetScope geolocation, relative to WorldView reference images) source

Notes

About. Operator of the PlanetScope (near-daily, ~3-4 m), SkySat (50 cm class), Pelican (30-50 cm class) and Tanager (hyperspectral) satellite constellations. New SkySat captures can be bought pay-as-you-go through Planet Select (a self-service web portal run with SkyFi; published per-km2 prices, 25 km² minimum) or under an annual tasking-credits contract, which also covers Pelican and Tanager and gives access to the Tasking API (key from Planet sales). Its Data and Orders APIs search and deliver the existing archive; PlanetScope scenes 30 days and older are self-serve with an Insights Flex plan.

Price. Planet's pricing page lists SkySat Flexible Tasking at $12/km², SkySat Assured Tasking at $40/km² and SkySat archive (30 days and older) at $6/km², via Planet Select, with a 25 km² minimum order (so about $300 for the smallest Flexible order). Pelican, Tanager, stereo, line and area collects are quoted by sales. Insights Flex plans for PlanetScope archive data (30 days and older): Starter $110/month or $1,100/year (7,000 monitoring credits/month), Professional $550/month, Scale $1,200/month; ordering 30-day-and-older PlanetScope scenes costs 50 monitoring credits per km². Next-day and near-real-time PlanetScope needs an enterprise or Planet Agriculture plan (Agriculture: $0.35-$1.80 per hectare by country tier, sold in 5 km² increments on an annual contract). The Tasking API's POST /tasking/v2/pricing/ and GET /tasking/v2/orders/{id}/pricing return a quota cost for contract customers. A free 30-day trial (3,000 monitoring credits, no card) covers public and sandbox data only, not ordering over your own area.

Coverage. Planet's June 2026 product specifications say PlanetScope provides near-daily imagery of the entire land surface with hundreds of Dove satellites in orbit, and that about fifteen SkySat-C satellites are in orbit (4-5 day revisit per satellite). Planet says certain countries and areas are restricted for tasking for capacity and compliance reasons and that these change; Planet Select shows when an area is unavailable and may restrict sensitive areas. Insights Flex reserves the right to limit access within some regions. Area tasking orders are capped at an account-specific maximum km².

Timing. Planet's Assured Tasking terms: imaging windows 'between ≤ 7 days and ≥ 6 hours prior to TOI'; orthorectified products '≤ 12 hours from capture'. Planet Select: 'New tasking is completed within your selected capture window.'

Licence. Licensed, not sold. Under Planet's Master Content License Agreement 2026.1 (effective June 24, 2026, current for all Order Schedules) Planet grants a limited, nontransferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence scoped by the Order Schedule and retains all right, title and interest in the content. You may not distribute, sublicense or let third parties access the content, create derivative works except as authorized, use it to improve non-Planet imagery, or build a substitute for Planet's products. AI training is allowed if your Order Schedule's usage rights allow Derivative Products, unless the Order Schedule says otherwise: not to replicate Planet content or improve third-party imagery, only on isolated, encrypted systems, and the resulting model stays subject to Planet's rights and may not be commercialized or distributed unless the Order Schedule permits. The Terms of Use (September 1, 2026) let Insights Platform licensees build application and media derivative products for third parties' internal use only, without source imagery, and require a Planet credit. The MCLA lets Planet require agentic users to be identified.
