Person · Not stated
Still open: Captured by SatVu satellites, not people.
- 2. Captured locallyNot stated
Camera · Not stated
Still open: Not a signed capture, so none (STANDARD §3). What is stated: Captured by a HotSat mid-wave infrared (MCT) frame camera, as 'snap videos' of up to 25 frames in one second. The Primary product delivers every frame with its calibration parameters. Sensor origin is SatVu's own statement; it is not signed or C2PA-attested.
Place · Claimed. Georeferencing starts from onboard attitude and orbit (AOCS) telemetry and is refined with tie points against Sentinel-2 mosaics, then orthorectified on the Copernicus GLO-30 DEM. Stated accuracy is 15 m CE90 or better for Surface Brightness Temperature (0-30 degrees off-nadir), or 200 m CE90 when refinement fails. An order is fulfilled only if a 1 km circle around the target is inside the scene.
Still open: SatVu says its georeferencing accuracy was independently validated, but the Product Quality Assurance Report has not been published yet.
Needs both: the weaker one counts.
- 3. Genuine deviceNot stated
App · Not stated
Still open: Delivered files carry STAC metadata but no published signature or checksum, so tampering after delivery cannot be detected. Only webhook notifications are signed. The order 'signature' field is an HS256 feasibility token, not a data signature.
- 4. Sealed captureNot stated

Content · Claimed. At delivery SatVu checks that the capture meets the order: the target circle is in the scene and cloud cover is within the limit (every image is cloud-assessed, with a per-pixel quality mask).
Still open: Nothing is published for detecting altered imagery. Cloud classification is less accurate by day.
Counts only with a stated signing mechanism (C2PA, a manifest).
- 5. Known timestampReported
Time · Claimed. Each frame carries an acquisition-start timestamp in the frame index file and STAC metadata. The order API gives acquisition details and a timestamped status history.
Still open: Timestamps are set by SatVu and not signed or independently time-stamped.
A time stated, not attested (RFC 3161, a log): Reported.
- 6. Tracked in transitNot stated
Custody record (optional field) · Not stated
- 7. Independently verifiedNot stated
Cross-check · Not stated
Still open: Nothing independent confirms individual captures. SatVu says its temperature calibration was checked against NOAA's VIIRS sensor, with results still to be published.

Notes
About. SatVu (Global Satellite Vu Ltd, London) operates the HotSat mid-wave infrared satellites, which image heat at up to 3.5 m resolution, day and night. Contract holders use its web app, REST API or Python SDK to run a free feasibility check, get a price and place Standard tasking orders (a date window of at least 7 days) or Assured orders (a chosen pass in the next 8 days), including recurring series. SatVu states delivery within 72 hours of capture, 95% of the time. HotSat-2 has been in commercial operation since June 2026. HotSat-3 launched in October 2026 and is being commissioned. SatVu tasking is also sold through SkyFi.
Price. from_usd 0 means not published, not free. Each contract has its own product prices and a credit limit. The price endpoint returns base, add-on and total amounts in minor currency units before you order. SatVu's documented example contract shows licence uplifts of 0% (Evaluation), 50% (single entity) and 100% (2-5 entities), and a 30% uplift for a 7-day catalog withhold. Contracts can carry a minimum purchase per term. SatVu says SkyFi also sells its imagery with published pricing and no long-term contract.
Coverage. Point targets only. A scene is about 3.5 x 4.5 km at nadir, and an order is fulfilled only if a 1 km radius around the point is fully in the scene. Each contract sets its geographical access, either global or a region. Cloud blocks thermal infrared; Standard orders set a cloud-cover limit, Assured orders do not. One satellite is operational today: HotSat-2 has been in commercial operation since June 2026. HotSat-3 launched in October 2026 and is being commissioned; SatVu says two satellites will give a 1-2 day revisit anywhere, and up to 12 a day at northern latitudes. SkyFi's announcement on SatVu's site says HotSat-3 tasking is expected in early 2027. HotSat-1 suffered an anomaly in December 2023.
Timing. "Capture-to-Delivery: ≤ 72 hours, measured monthly at 95% performance." Standard orders "require a minimum 7-day imaging window" and must be placed "≥ 24 hours prior to TOI"; Assured passes can be chosen "only... for the next 8 days". (source: SatVu Tasking Terms of Service PDF; the 72 h figure is not on the product pages)
Licence. SatVu's EULA (22 July 2026) grants a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence. Products are 'licenced, not sold' and SatVu keeps the IP. You choose a licence level per order. Commercial levels are single organisation, 2-5 entities, more than 5 entities, or public release. They allow internal non-commercial use, plus small web extracts with no georeferencing, at most 2048 x 2048 px and attributed '(c) [YEAR] SatVu'. Clause 3.1.3 bans selling or supplying imagery or derivatives to third parties beyond your licence level; reselling needs a separate reseller contract. Data Derivatives (contain no imagery and are irreversible) and algorithms you develop with the products stay yours (clause 10.3), but commercial use must be disclosed to SatVu first. The EULA does not mention AI or machine-learning training by buyers.
